A report of gunshots on Memorial Drive in Cambridge Monday afternoon drew a large response from both local and state police.

The report was made around 1:30 p.m. and brought police to Memorial Drive near River Street, Cambridge police wrote in a Facebook post around 2:15 p.m. Both Cambridge and Massachusetts State Police remain at the scene.
“There is no ongoing danger to the public. Residents are asked to please avoid the area,” Cambridge police wrote.

More information about the incident will be shared publicly at a later time, Cambridge police said.
Footage from the scene showed two people being loaded into ambulances, WCVB reported. A black Dodge Avenger appeared to have crashed off the side of the road in front of an apartment building at 808 Memorial Drive. Other police cruisers and an ambulance were also seen at a nearby Mobil station.
